Summertime is not flu season, but one year ago the spread of H1N1 was making headlines around the world.
This year, a local health official expects things to be different.
"It was just very, very different last year as we were trying to respond to something that was new to the whole world and that we hoped wasn't going to mutate and become very severe for people," said Dr. Shelley Buchan, medical officer of health of Regional Health Authority — Central Manitoba Inc.
"We are expecting that sometime in the fall season we will get influenza because we get influenza every year, " she said. "Certainly in other parts of the world, H1N1 there's still some circulation but it has certainly gone down a lot."
