The Central Plains Capitals were a little short on the bench and on the scoreboard through the weekend, bringing the club's current slide to five games.
The Caps went winless while playing three games in three days, while the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League's ruling on the Nov. 14 game against the Kenora Thistles did not go in the team's favour.
The Capitals rallied in the third period on Nov. 20, but fell 7-5 to the Winnipeg Thrashers at the Gateway Recreation Complex, then were held scoreless despite a great effort in a 2-0 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings at Portage Centennial Arena.
The league-leading Winnipeg Wild handed the Caps a 7-2 setback on Sunday in Gladstone to wrap up the weekend.
The Capitals were without captain Doug Lawrence (ill) for the majority of the weekend, as he played just half a period in Saturday's loss to Brandon.
The team also missed the services of Taylor Fingas and Jon Stephansson for Saturday and Sunday's games, as both were tagged with two-game suspensions after fighting near the end of the loss to the Thrashers on Nov. 20.
Lastly, Central Plains were without head coach Blaine Boyle behind the bench for the entire weekend, as he served a three-game suspension as a part of the league's direction on the unfinished Kenora match-up.
The Capitals forfeited the result of the game in limbo, which was tied 2-2 after two periods before Central Plains deemed the ice unsafe for play due to a malfunction of the arena's ice resurfacer. The team was also fined $500 for refusing to take to the ice for the third period in the game, while Boyle himself incurred a $250 penalty from the league.
