Staff photo by Eric MacKenzie...Just 16 years old, Terriers defenceman Rene Hunter certainly hasn t looked out of place during his first season in the MJHL.

A season after the Portage Terriers had a pair of 16 year olds impress up front, the Dogs are now getting solid contributions from one on the blueline.

Rene Hunter has been a dependable fixture on the Terriers' back end one-third of the way into his first MJHL season, and the youngster is fitting in nicely so far.

"I feel pretty good here," Hunter said after Wednesday's practice at Centennial Arena. "At first, I felt like a lot of the guys were bigger and it was tough, but I've kind of gotten used to it as we've gone deeper in the season."

Hunter is still looking for his first career MJHL goal, but has been dependable manning the point and has recorded six assists in 18 games.

Terriers' head coach Blake Spiller kept both Kajon McKay and Brenden Walker in their first years of junior eligibility for the 2009-09 campaign, and the move paid big dividends, as both were solid contributors to the club's second league title in as many years.
